DnD Creator Spotlight & Resources
DM Lair has a new Kickstarter for Lairs & Legends 2 and Loot & Lore 2, with 30+ new 5e adventures, 100 new epic monsters, and mind-bending challenges. This one comes 2 years after the first successful backing of the combo and these sequels are even jam-packed with in-depth lore, deadly traps, and terrifying monsters with minimal prep.
- Interesting Thread on where to find online tools for Character Sheet creators when creating your own TTRPG (Threads)
- If you’re into cozy fantasy fiction, I just finished reading Legends & Lattes, a fun little book about a half-orc walking away from the adventuring life and opening a coffee shop.
- The beta for Tall Tavern is now available! Tall Tavern is an automated role-playing game assistant for everyone, and while we’ve not had a chance to try it out yet ourselves, it seems like its full-featured. Worth a shot for any DMs looking to get better organized.
- Solid DM Tip from the Organized DM on Threads and some good follow-up from the community based on how to work with checks in game: “You would definitely know that, just give me a ______ check to see how MUCH you know.”
- From r/DnDHomebrew, an interesting Warlock pact where the player’s patron is the DM, the Meta Warlock. (Reddit)
- Oh_Hi_Mark_ of r/bettermonsters fame posted 3 books-worth of updated monsters for 5e this week, updated from 4e and 3.5e. Includes undead, demons, and abberations. (Reddit)
- KoboldCon from Kobold Press is coming up at the beginning of May and will have major coverage for Tales of the Valiant, which is “fully compatible with the 5E products you already know and love. Tales of the Valiant is a new game, but if you’ve played 5th Edition D&D, you’ll feel right at home.”

Free NPCs
Mad Maxine: Fury Woad – Mad Maxine is a wood woad barbarian. She traverses the realm’s barren wastelands, angrily planting seeds in an attempt to regrow lost forests.
Her associate, Firiosa, the pine-tree dryad, failed to show up at the rendezvous point, and now Maxine is worried that something has happened to her in the desert…
This Week’s Encounters
- Total Eclipse of the Art – A harengon artist by the name of Bunny Tyler has been commissioned by a town to paint a mural of their protective goddess on a nearby cliff face. Bunny is successful, but the painting is so gorgeous that it has attracted the attention of a cyclops, who, because of his poor depth perception, awkwardly stands very closely to the mural, blocking anyone else’s view.
- Tome on the Range – As the party travels through plains, they come across a mysterious tome that goes into great detail about cattle ranching. An inscription inside says “property of Angus” along with some mysterious text. A high Arcana roll will reveal that the non-common text is that of a unique Cleric domain. As the party reviews the tome, they hear yelling, and rumbling nearby.
Small Sentence Encounter Ideas
- Tome Improvement – Tim Tulleman, the Tailor has been asked to make book covers with a special fabric, but needs the party’s help to acquire it.
- Grell-o – Grells selling tasty gelatinous cubes or a Grell NPC that is a heroic slayer of gelatinous cubes
- Drownisseur – Collects drow equipment/items…dangerous collection to acquire, collects magical items…cast magical darkness. Maybe a fetch quest: get him Ray Bannishers which are drowline glasses…
