Trying something a little new this week by tossing in timely, helpful, or new to us DnD resources that we’ve come across in the past week. Let us know below if you find them helpful! We’re still kicking ourselves that we didn’t manage to work the Dancing Hut of the Baba Yaga into the week, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
On to the links!
DnD 5e Resources To Check Out
- 9 Killer Monster Combos for D&D 5E – Use With Caution! – We ended up leveraging one of these combos in Sure-Lock Homes because the idea was so fun. Written by Wise DMs back in 2020, but it still holds up!
- Kobold+ Fight Club – If you’ve ever wondered how we determine what level to set our encounters for, we owe it all to the tool Kobold+ Fight Club. The interface lets you quickly add monsters, adjust party size and level, and gives you a really good sense of encounter difficulty. This is a must-have in the DMs toolbelt for quick encounter assessment.
- Goodman Games Humble Bundle – Well-known for their Dungeon Crawl Classics, Goodman Games is offering 75 of their modules with a $25 purchase, some of which will go to the charity World Central Kitchen. The modules range in level from 1 to 12+ and are anywhere between 30 and 100 pages, so plenty of crawl content to keep your party and campaign fending off baddies for a long time to come. Looks like the bundle will be up until Sept 14, 2023.
- Ace of Gnomes Flash Sale – We’ve been following Ace of Gnomes for a bit now and love their art style and overall silliness. As a celebration of 300 followers on Instagram they are doing a 30% off flash sale. We snagged on of their Durngerns & Drergerns shirts.
Dumbest DnD Free Encounter Recap (Theme: Home)
- Home, Sweet Home – A twist on the classic Hansel and Gretel, this forest encounter for parties of Level 12+ finds a hag in need of some help against some destructive teens.
- Homer’s Odd Sea – There is something very off with this sea. Mainly that it doesn’t exist and is in the middle of the plains. Solve the mystery for Homer in this encounter for parties level 4-7. Solid community contributions in this one!
- Take Me Home, Country Roads – Help a halfling break through a lovesick hag’s illusions and find his way home in this forest encounter for party levels 1-3. Apologies to any John Denver Fans
- Down with the Homesickness – A house is coughing up furniture and suffering from chills in this Mystery encounter for parties of Level 1-3.
- Sure-Lock Homes – You can pick your friends, but you can’t pick these locks. This is an urban encounter for lock-pickers and others who consider themselves sneaky, or good at killing things, for parties of 12+
- Home Is Where the Heartstone Is – Help a kind, born-again lich recover his phylactery by pretending to be clerics of a new religion in this roleplay encounter for any player level.
