As the party is adventuring in an urban area, they learn of a new religion that is spawning on the outskirts of town. Passing through the streets they will see posters of the group attempting to gain a broader following (a little too desperately it seems), with an upcoming meeting that night.
Should the party choose to investigate, they will end up at a decrepit barn, obscured by some of the other buildings in town, but with a pyre and a terribly sculpted statue of what appears to be the god the group is worshipping. With a high investigation check, the party can make out that the statue appears to be a chimera, with the head of a bunny, lamb, and duck, with it’s main body taking bunny form. Scrawled beneath the statue it says “All hail Lambunck, layer of eggs, hopper of sorrows, raiser of deads.”
Entering the barn, the party quickly sees the followers knelt before an altar, each in pastel-colored robes and garments. One woman stands in front of the worshippers and notes the party’s presence. She calmly announces “it would appear we have new followers this evening.”
The Followers
The party is approached by [party number] followers, each with their hands behind their backs. “Kneel before the great Lambunck, and receive your blessing.”
If the party chooses to kneel, the followers will place makeshift rabbit ears upon their heads, smiling and saying “Lambunck be with you.”
The leader of the group turns back to the rest and notes, “the great eggwakening is upon us my children. Those who dye for our lord will receive the highest blessings. It has been foretold that Lambunck would come to us in our greatest hour of need and at that time we would know how to proceed.”
As she finishes her sentence, the barn doors blast open and a trail of glitter reveals itself leading out of the barn and further out of town. The followers retrieve weapons and begin to follow the glitter trail deep into the forest. Venturing deeper, the party can see pastel-colored eggs, broken open, but empty, along their path.
The Chimera
Finally, they come upon the giant chimera, its features much cuter than the statue portrayed. As it blinks its three sets of gigantic eyes, each time tiny little rainbows shoot out from them. Everyone is slightly taken aback, aww’ing in all its cuteness. As the followers let down their guard, the bunny head rears back and lets out a low droning noise, exhaling a powdery cloud, encasing the nearest follower in a baby blue egg. The followers begin to panic and run away.
If the party decides to stay and fight the chimera has several attacks to choose from:
- Multiattack with bite, headbutt, and beak (one from each head). Headbutt and beak you can repurpose horns and claws.
- Rainbow breath: The bunny head exhales a rainbow in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 CONST saving throw, taking 31 (7d8) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
- Dye: a powdery cloud emerges from the bunny head, on a failed DC 15 CONST save, deal 5d6 psychic damage and encase the target in a dyed pastel egg. Half the damage and no egg if successful save roll.
Lopping off any of the heads of the chimera causes a forcible discharge of glitter, rainbows, or chocolate blood, depending on the DM’s mood.
The Resolution
Once defeated, the party will likely return to the worshipping spot. If they have brought the heads of any of the chimera, they will be rewarded by becoming saints of the church, a bag of chocolate coins (that they think are real unless investigated), and a Scroll of Make Enemy Dye, which will allow the user to dye one target any pastel color for 24 hours.
The followers will be eternally grateful to the party if they helped defeat the chimera, and note that they will unlock its true powers when it returns from the dead in three days’ time. If the party decides to wait around and defeat the chimera again this next time around, and they kill it, they will find a Ring of Second Chance, which can bring the wearer back to life.
